Smart Pieces ala Valentino

You don't have to be married to a French President to look as stylish as his wife... The attention to detail and skilled construction distinguish the designer as much as the person who wears the piece. The quality, color, cut, and silk-accent collectively deem this look one of the chicest of its kind. And while stylists have been encouraging us to mix up suiting looks they are back on board with a head to toe (or in this case knee) matching look. It is so exquisite itself that you become powerful and important all at once just by wearing it. Promise.

This sapphire blue dress with ruffle details is sure to make your style stock shoot through the roof. It's cute, comfortable, playful, and can be worn as a dressy cocktail option or with flats or gladiators for a more casual look. And, if you just so happen to be blonde then you can't deny the power of navy...

And this is just purely, classically, ethereally the most beautiful top. It is sheer white, and intricately embellished with a variety of beading, stones, and embroidery. It's what Karen Blixen (the character Meryl Streep plays in Out of Africa) would wear to a cocktail party--and look so cool in.

Lourdes Chavez-Trunk Show

Lourdes Chavez is for the woman who knows her own style and chooses clothes based on that philosophy rather than what the magazines are telling her is fashionable. The clothes are beautiful, detailed, and immaculately constructed. The trunk show will be going on in Austin today, April 28, and tomorrow, April 29. We would love to see you as much as you will love to see these clothes.

And when you see this dress:

You can't help but think of this one:

And who doesn't like that?

Claudia's Coming!

The Claudia Lobao trunk show will be in Austin tomorrow for just one day, Tuesday April 28. She will be presenting her Spring 2009 collection which was inspired by the Brazilian Carnaval. "She's focused her inspirations on Brazilian history to the time of Brazil's imperialistic era where royal families from Portugal brought absolute glamour to Brazilian society from Europe. The collection focuses on hand crafted arts such as crochet and Brazilian Fuxico which emphasized Brazil's love for its royalty and fashion. Today Brazilian Carnaval is an overwhelming representation to our visual senses with explosions of color, movement, music and total exuberance. The collection calls on all aspects of Brazilian Carnaval, from its history to its passion."

Such inspiration at the line's foundation paired with the Brazilian designer's attention to historical detail, the collection is something special to see. The inspiration comes through in her designs without being too overwhelming and with a lightness that she is known for.
It is no wonder that she has such a following, Eva Longoria being one of her most avid supporters.

Stop by to see the wonderful pieces and to meet the designer herself.
Here are a few of the pieces from the collection:
